Baseball Faces Omaha in Crosstown Classic on Tuesday

Omaha, Neb. -- Creighton Baseball and Omaha face off for the first time during the 2023 season on Tuesday, April 4. Originally scheduled for March 7, this road contest was pushed back due to weather.

Omaha enters the crosstown battle on a three-game winning streak as the Mavericks swept Northern Colorado over the weekend.
While neither squad has announced a starter, the Mavericks enter Tuesday with a team ERA of 7.25 and a batting average of .285.
Omaha is led at the plate by former Bluejay Cam Frederick at .434 and Mike Boeve at .429.
Scouting the Bluejays: 12-9
Creighton started to get things sorted out as a couple of Bluejay hitters seemed to find their stroke during a three-game sweep of St. Thomas over the weekend.
The Bluejays enter Tuesday's contest hitting .261 as a team, including Nolan Clifford's team-high .333, Nolan Sailors at .326 and a quartet between .289 to .299.
Creighton brings a team ERA of 5.11 to Tal Anderson Field.
Bottom Third Rise to Post Sweep of Tommies
The bottom third of Creighton's order (Hogan Helligso, Ben Gbur and Kyle Hess) combined to go 6-for-10 with five RBI to help the Bluejays sweep St. Thomas with a 7-2 win on Sunday, April 2.
It was the first multi-hit game of the season for Gbur. He went 3-for-6 in a pair of games against St. Thomas to raise his season average 47 points.
Helligso, meanwhile, went 4-for-6 with five RBI and five runs scored against St. Thomas to boost his average 58 points to .295.
Helligso Earns BIG EAST Honor Roll Spot
Hogan led Creighton to a 3-1 week with a .571 average (4-for-7) with two doubles, one triple and five RBI. Helligso also scored five runs, posted a slugging percentage of 1.143 and an on-base percentage of .667. His efforts earned the Omaha native a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday, April 3.
Grace and North go Back-to-Back
Senior Jack Grace and freshman Ben North blasted back-to-back home runs during Creighton's eight-run third inning against St. Thomas on April 1. The last time a Bluejay tandem went back-to-back was Alan Roden and Jared Wegner against St. John's on April 16, 2022.
