Cancellieri closed the game with a career-high 12 strikeouts, over seven innings on 106 pitches.
Sailors Immediately Took to the Three Hole
Moved into the third spot in the batting order for the first time to open the Villanova series, freshman Nolan Sailors led Creighton with a .385 average (5-for-13). He blasted a pair of doubles as well as two triples during the three-game set with the Wildcats, closing the weekend with two RBI, an .846 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage.
