Scouting the Bluejays
(2025: 1-2, 0-0 BIG EAST)
Injury struck Creighton before the opening weekend as two-thirds of the projected rotation we ruled out before the Bluejays departed for Greensboro.
After dropping the first two games in a doubleheader, the
offense found its rhythm with a 17-1 win in the finale.
Senior Nolan Sailors led the offense with a .417 mark, while freshman WIlson Magers dazzled on the mound with five scoreless innings to earn his first win.
Scouting the Pilots
(2025: 1-3, 0-0 WCC)
Portland opened the season with a road series loss at Cal Baptist. The Pilots were shut out in the opening game, but scored 16 points in the middle two contests.
Despite the strong showing in the two middle games, Portland enters the weekend hitting .222 as a team. Brady Bean and Tyler Howard lead the way at .471 and .308 respectively.
On the mound Portland posted a team ERA of 7.64, surrendering 45 hits in 33 innings. Starters Carter Gaston and Curtis Herbert combined to toss nine scoreless frames, allowing just two
unearned runs.
