Right in the thick of the fight to reach the BIG EAST Tournament, the Wildcats suffered a setback with a series sweep by Xavier last weekend.
Villanova brings a team ERA of 6.06 to Charles Schwab Field this weekend, but the first two starters (Luke McCollough and Jake Francis) boast a combined ERA of 4.33 in 97.2 innings. The duo also have notched 65 strikeouts and just 21 walks combined this season.
The Wildcat offense has a team batting average of .273, led by Brayden Leonard (.341), Austin Lemon (.336) and Michael
Whooley (.321). The trio have a combined 71 RBI. Villanova's big thumper is Jason Neff, who has 12 home runs and 48 RBI.

midweek contests and get pitching boosts from Ian Koosman and Henry Prindl.
Creighton is hitting a .278 as a team, led by senior Nolan Sailors (.399), junior Ben North (.333) and Connor Capece (.321).
On the mound the Bluejays have a team ERA of 4.25 with 292 strikeouts in 313.2 innings.
Salute to Service Military Appreciation Game - Saturday, April 26thÂ
Creighton Baseball is set to host its 13th annual Military/First Responder's Night known as the "Salute to Service" Game at Charles Schwab Field Omaha this Saturday, April 26th at 6:00 p.m.
Before the game, fans are invited to check out the various static displays from the 55th Air Wing, Omaha Police, Omaha Fire and other area law enforcement beginning at 4:00 p.m. in parking lot C. Pregame festivities include limited quantities of commemorative t-shirts once the gates open, skydivers in tandem with a rendition of God Bless the USA, and a flyover following the national anthem provided by the Nebraska Air National Guard. Military service members, Veterans and first responders can claim free tickets by calling 402-280-JAYS (5297) or by showing their ID at the box office the day of the game.Â
Sioux Falls Power Surge Leads to Run Rule Win
The Creighton offense blasted three home runs, each at least a two-run shot, as the Bluejays defeated South Dakota State 12-2 for a run-rule win in seven innings on Wednesday, April 23.
Nolan Sailors got thing round-trippers started with a two-run blast in the second, while Kyle Hess launched a three-run shot in the third. Creighton's final home run came off the hottest bat in the lineup, Matt Scherrman, a two-run shot in the sixth.
Run Support Helps Prindl Make Case for More Time
Pressed into his first career start by a double midweek contest, freshman Henry Prindl shined in the Bluejays' 12-2 win over South Dakota State on April 23. Entering the game with seven innings this season, Prindl limited the Jackrabbits to one run on three hits over four innings to earn his first win as a Bluejay.
Scherrman On Extended Hot Streak
Entering play on April 15, Creighton's Matt Scherrman was hitting .235 with five extra base hits (all doubles) and 10 RBI
Over the Bluejays last six contests Scherrman has gone 11-for-20 (.550) with five extra base hits (two doubles, one triple and two home runs) accounting for 12 RBI.
The Illinois native raised his season average to .307 (27-for-88).
