About Marquette
Scouting Marquette (10-5, 4-2 BIG EAST)
Marquette may have posted its most impressive win of the season on Sunday, January 4, defeating Villanova 85-69 to give the Wildcats their first BIG EAST loss.
Four different Golden Eagles enter the game with Creighton averaging double figures. Skylar Forbes leads the way with 16.9 ppg, while Halle Vice is just a step behind at 15.0 ppg. Lee Volker and Jaidynn Mason check in at 11.1 and 10.4 ppg respectively.
Marquette's scoring differential has been impressive this season, limiting opponents to 62.3 ppg and scoring 72.8.
Scouting Creighton (7-8, 3-3 BIG EAST)
The Bluejays have continued to find new ways to win. Forced into a shorter rotation by injuries, freshman Kendall McGee has stepped forward with back-to-back double digit efforts at Villanova and again against Butler.
Versus the Bulldogs, Creighton ended its three-game losing streak. Now the Bluejays enter two of its toughest back-to-back games of the season at Marquette and home to #1 Connecticut.
Freshmen Ava Zediker and Neleigh Gessert lead Creighton with 12.8 and 12.7 ppg, while Kennedy Townsend has been the
driving force in BIG EAST action. She has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Honor Roll in each of the last two weeks, scoring 65 points combined in the last three games.
Keys to the Game
Senior Kiani Lockett Unlikely to Return in 2025-26
Creighton guard Kiani Lockett is expected to miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season with a knee injury, head coach Jim Flanery announced on Tuesday.
One of Creighton's two fourth year seniors, Lockett appeared in each of the Bluejays' first four games. The highlight came when Lockett scored 25 points to lead Creighton to a 83-74 win at Drake on Nov. 9. She suffered the injury to her right knee late in the game with Northern Iowa on Nov. 20, yet displayed a Mamba like effort as she walked to the line to sink both free throws before leaving the game.
Pink Out Auction
Creighton's annual Pink Out Auction to support Breast Cancer Awareness concluded on January 5. The game itself will feature UConn for the second consecutive season and will be played in the CHI Health Center on January 11. Bluejay players will wear pink shooting shirts and pink jerseys.
The shooting shirts as well as two basketballs and a round of golf with head coach Jim Flanery were auctioned. Providing fans the opportunity to honor a friend or family member who has battled cancer or is currently battling cancer by purchasing the apparel via auction (the shooting shirt can be personalized - last name, nickname, etc.).
All funds raised go to benefit Hope Lodge Omaha.
The American Cancer Society Hope Lodge Nebraska provides a free home away from home for cancer patients and their caregivers who must travel to Omaha to receive their lifesaving treatment. More than just a roof over their heads, it's a nurturing community that helps patients access the care they need.

Marquette and Creighton Meet For First Time in 365 Days
The imbalanced schedule of 18 BIG EAST games last season set forth an interesting anomaly as the last time Creighton and Marquette faced off was on Jan. 8, 2025 in Omaha. The two teams played just once last season. The last meeting in Milwaukee was over two years ago on Dec. 13, 2023.
McGee Embraces Next Woman Up Challenge
Limited to just eight healthy bodies against Villanova and Butler, freshman Kendall McGee made a statement with consecutive games in double digits. Raising her average in each contest, McGee scored 14 versus the Wildcats then delivered 15 points in the win over Butler.
Seniors Townsend and Boffeli Leading by Example
Knowing her squad needed a lift in the paint, Grace Boffeli posted 16 points and seven rebounds in Creighton's 67-59 win over Butler on Jan. 4. Kennedy Townsend, meanwhile, exploded in the latter stages of the second quarter with a personal 8-0 run to key Creighton's 16-2 surge. The four-year vet dropped in a layup, blocked a shot on the other end then delivered consecutive transition three-pointers to give Creighton its first lead of the game at 27-25 with 1:06 remaining in the first half.

Keys to the Game
- Composure: In two of the Bluejays' three BIG EAST wins, Creighton has trailed by double digits in the second quarter. The Bluejays cannot afford to start slow or have elongated lapses against Marquette.
- Rebounding: Marquette has typically been one of the most fundamentally sound teams. This year, however, the Bluejays have more rebounds through 15 games.
- Three-Point Shooting: Butler limited the Bluejays' long range shooting as Creighton was held to 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. The second fewest treys made in a game this season for the Bluejays.
