Forty-seven games into her senior year, West has thrown out 11 would-be base-stealers, including two against UT Arlington on Feb. 22.Â
By comparison, West only threw out nine would-be base-stealers last season and just 11 in her first two seasons with the Bluejays in 2023-24.Â

Vandewater Nearly Hits For Cycle
Sophomore Tara Vandewater nearly became the first Bluejay in program history to hit for the cycle, finishing a career-day 3-for-4 with a single, double and home run while driving in a career-high six RBI.
The sophomore standout singled in the third and hit a grand slam home run in the fifth before capping off game with a stand-up double in the sixth.
Vandewater was the third Bluejay this season to nearly hit for the cycle as seniors Erika Perez and Lily West fell short of the feat against Seton Hall on March 6 and March 7.Â
Perez was a home run shy of the cycle on March 6th, going 4-for-5 with a single, double, triple and six RBI, while and West fell a triple shy of feat on March 7 when she went 4-for-4 with a single, two doubles and a home run.Â

Can't Keep Her Off the Bases
Senior Lily West reached base safely in 20 straight games before having her streak snapped on March 25 after going 0-for-3 at Omaha. The 20-game on-base streak was longest on-base streak of West's career and Creighton's second longest streak of the season.
During West's 20-game on-base streak, she hit .460 (29-of-63) with five doubles, two homers, 20 RBI and 17 runs scored. West owned at least one hit in 14 of the 20 contests, including multiple hits in 10 of those games.Â

Creighton played its first extra-inning games of the season this past weekend at Butler, where they earned an 8-5 8-inning win in game one before falling in game-two in 8-innings on Thursday.
Freshman Keegan Mayhue and senior Erika Perez lifted the Bluejays to the series opening victory, launching back-to-back home run in the top of the eighth inning.
Creighton, overall, is 97-99-2 all-time in extra-inning games, including a 21-17 mark since joining the league in 2014.
Amongst the Bluejays extra-inning games is Creighton historic NCAA record 31-inning contest against Utah on May 11, 1991, as well as the third longest game in NCAA history in the 25-inning affair against Utah just 21-minutes later on May 12, 1991.
CU Launching Pad
Creighton has also produced some big hitters throughout its powerful lineup over the years and that trend has continued this season.Â
CU has blasted a total of 37 home runs this season, including 15 blasts within the friendly confines of the Creighton Softball Stadium.
Among the 15 home runs hit inside the Creighton Softball Stadium by Creighton, are two walk-off home runs, a pinch-hit grand slam, a leadoff homer and five go-ahead blasts. Â
Since joining the BIG EAST in 2014, the most home runs a Creighton team has hit during a single season at home is 30 (2025).Â
Tara Vandewater, Keegan Mayhue leads the way with five home runs at home this season, while Erika Perez follows closely behind with three home runs respectfully.

A New Place to Call Home
The Creighton Softball program entered a new era on March 13th against Providence when the Bluejays opened its new state-of-the-art facility that ranks amongst the finest in all of Nebraska in the new Creighton Softball Stadium.
Built in conjunction of Creighton's $300 million Fly Together project, the Creighton Softball Stadium is the first of several key elements in the continued renovation of the athletic corridor on the east side of campus.
The 79,011-square-foot stadium features state-of-the-art Triple Threat FieldTurf across the entire playing surface, as well as a 15' 11 1/8" x 31' 6 5/16' fully electronic Daktronics DVX-2802 video/scoreboard in right-center field that will be operated from a new press box. The press box amenities include radio/TV booths, as well as separate space for the public address announcer, official scorer and local/national media. Key analytical technology, such as Trackman and an AWEAR Camera System, will provide enhanced statistical data to elevate player development.
The facility also features three pitching rubbers in both the home and visiting bullpen areas, just down the line from sunken dugouts that include storage space and player restrooms.
In addition, the facility has 298 fixed seats and a capacity of 600 with the potential for seating to be added in the future. Restrooms and concessions spaces will be provided at the main entrance of the stadium. Additionally, the facility is accessible to individuals with disabilities and seating inside the stadium meets ADA standards.
The field's dimensions are 200' down the left field line, 220' to straight-away center and 200' down the right field line.Â
Cardiac JaysÂ
Creighton had three thrilling wins during its BIG EAST sweep of Villanova as the Jays delivered all three victories in walk-off fashion.Â
Freshman Kegan Mayhue was the hero on Friday, blasting a three-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the seventh to hand Creighton an 11-10 victory. Mayhue's blast marked the first walk-off homer in the new Creighton Softball Stadium and the first walk-off home run since Sydney Potter lifted the Jays to a 4-3 win over Purdue Fort Wayne last season.Â
Avery Barnard followed with a two-run walk-off double in the fifth inning of Creighton's 11-3 walk-off run-rule win on Saturday, before Tara Vandewater closed out the series sweep with a two-run walk-off jack in the bottom of the fifth of the Jays' 10-1 run-rule victory on Sunday.Â
Even more impressive, Creighton softball opened its new field less than two weeks ago and has already hit two walk-off homers in just seven games at the Creighton Softball Stadium. Creighton Baseball, meanwhile, has played at Charles Schwab Field Omaha since 2011 and has only had two walk-off home runs in 322 games at the park.Â
Since the beginning of the 2021 season, Creighton has recorded a total of seven victories via walk-off home runs. Ironically, five of Creighton's last six walk-off wins have been against Villanova.

Pinch Me
In Creighton's seven-run second inning in game two against Villanova on March 21, head coach Krista Wood went to the bench and called upon Ashley Smetter to pinch hit.Â
The senior slugger stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and delivered in a big way, smashing her first career grand slam.Â
In the process, Smetter became the first Bluejays to record a pinch-hit grand slam since Kaelan Schultz blasted a bases clearing home run against Connecticut on March 28, 2025.Â
Leadoff PowerÂ
Freshman Zoey Greenwood made her return to the leadoff spot in the lineup this past weekend against Villanova and delivered in a big way, blasting a leadoff home run in the Jays' 10-1 series finale win on March 22.
Greenwood's leadoff blast was the second leadoff home run of the season for the Bluejays as Lily West also launched a leadoff homer in the Jays' 3-2 win over Drake on Feb. 14.Â
West's leadoff homer against Drake marked the second leadoff home run of her Bluejay career and the first leadoff home run by a Bluejay since she delivered a leadoff home run against Georgetown on March 28, 2024.
