- Graduate Assistant Coach
Madeline Vejvoda is in her first season as a graduate assistant coach at Creighton, following a five-year standout career with the Bluejays. She works closely with the Bluejays infielders as well as the hitters and assists in scouting and data collecting of future opponents.
Vejvoda joins Wood’s staff as a graduate assistant after spending the previous five seasons (2020-2024) in a Bluejay uniform, where she made 184 starts and appeared in 197 games. The La Vista, Neb. native posted a .293 career batting average, collecting 162 hits, 29 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 79 RBI while scoring a total of 100 runs.Â
“We are really excited to add Madeline to our coaching staff,” said Wood. “Madeline’s leadership the past two years have been a huge part of the program’s success. She will now continue to bring her experience as a player and her passion for the game to help us compete for a BIG EAST Championship.”
Vejvoda, a 2024 unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team and NFCA All-Great Lakes Region Second Team second baseman, guided the Bluejays to its first 35-win since 2010 while leading the team with 32 runs scored and a .404 on-base percentage as a senior. She also ranked second on the team in batting average (.353), hits, (61), doubles (12) and walks (17), while recording a team-high six of the Bluejays new school record 20 sacrifice flies in 2024. Â
“I am so grateful and excited that I have the opportunity to come back to Creighton to join Coach Wood’s coaching staff,” stated Vejvoda. “I knew after last season that I wasn’t ready to leave, and this was the perfect opportunity that would allow me to be back at the place I love with the people I love. I can’t wait for this new journey to begin and I’m excited to experience the game from a new perspective.”
In the classroom, Vejvoda was a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree and a three-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. She was also a five-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team and a nine-time honoree on the Creighton honor roll.Â
Vejvoda graduated from Creighton in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in healthy lifestyle management and received a graduate certificate in organizational leadership from Creighton in 2024.
