In game one, Jessica Wakasugi led off the game with an infield single. She advanced to third base on a passed ball and sacrifice and would score the first run of the game on another passed ball. The second run of the inning scored on an RBI single by Renae Sinkler.
CU added two more runs in the second inning. Michelle Koch reached base on a one-out error and later scored on an RBI single by Michelle Graner. Jamie Reiss also scored on an error later in the inning after reaching base on an infield hit.
Up 4-0 heading into the fourth, the Bluejays scored two runs in the frame with the aid of another Kangaroo error. The Jays added to their six-run lead by capping the run-rule victory with two runs in the sixth.
Three UMKC errors, three passed balls and a wild pitch helped the Bluejays in the 8-0 victory. Wakasugi, Sinkler and Mary Egan each collected two base hits in game one. Sinkler went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Egan was 2-for-2. Reiss and Graner each scored a pair of runs in the first game of the twin bill.

Kansas City native Caitlin Marcano enjoyed a return to her hometown with a career-game in the night cap. Marcano went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI.
Marcano collected her first RBI on a bunt single to the pitcher in the third inning. A passed ball then allowed a Bluejay run to score in the fourth. Marcano's first homer of the game came in the fifth inning when she blasted a two-run shot to left center, putting the Bluejays ahead 4-0 after five frames.
Freshman Kristi Meneely then blasted a pinch-hit home run in the sixth inning before Marcano connected on her second round tripper of the day to conclude scoring in the seventh. Meneely became the third freshman pinch-hitter to hit a home run in CU's last three games.
Amanda Hess improved to 5-2 by hurling the first five innings of the combined shutout. The right-hander struck out eight, walked two and allowed only two hits. Nee again tossed the final two innings of no-hit ball, with one walk and one strikeout.
