Eadus got the scoring started in the bottom of the first inning when she took the first pitch she saw from Wichita State (37-28) starter Margo Pruis deep beyond the center field fence to give the Bluejays a 2-0 lead. The first-team All-MVC catcher's 15th blast of the season extended her school record for round trippers in a season and drove in Jamie Reiss who led off the game for CU with a single.
It was Dawson's line drive home run to right field that knocked Pruis from the game. The sophomore shortstop battled through a 10-pitch at bat, including five consecutive foul balls before sending her ninth home run over the wall in right, giving the Jays a 3-0 lead.
The Shockers broke the Oltman shutout with a leadoff solo home run in the fourth inning off the bat of Cynthia Verhulst. That was one of just two hits for WSU, as the MVC Pitcher of the Year settled down to retire 12 of the final 14 hitters she faced after the blast.
Oltman improved to 24-7 and moved her ERA to 1.13, the 10th leading ERA in the nation which is also the best among the nation's freshmen. The MVC Newcomer of the Year walked three and struck out three in the 96-pitch complete game.
Reiss finished 2-for-3 to bump her team-leading average to .379. Seven Bluejays had at least one hit in the game.
Pruis (23-12) took the loss, allowing three runs and five hits in 2.1 innings of work before giving way to Ashly Bright in the circle.
