Men's Golf Closes Fall in South Carolina

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. -- The Creighton men's golf team finished 16th at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic on Tuesday. The Jays totaled a 916 (306+308+302) three-day total at the Turtle Point Golf Course.
Winthrop finished first in the 20-team field with an 864 (288+295+281). Georgia Southern placed second with 868 (301+289+278). Marquette (301+292+285) and Missouri (289+298+291) tied for third with 878 at the par-72 Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course.
Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern totaled a nine-under par 63 Tuesday to set a course record and finish with a 210 (74+73+63). Wolfes finished co-medalist with USC Upstate's Ryan Cornfield (72+66+66). Jacksonville State's Tomasz Anderson scored a 211 (70+70+71) for third.
Creighton was paced by senior Johnny Spellerberg who finished tied for 23rd with 222 (75+71+76).
Sophomore Kade Brown also finished in the top-50 with a 224 (78+75+71) to tie for 35th. His 71 on Tuesday tied his lowest round since arriving at Creighton.
Junior Tommy Anderson tied for 79th with 234 (77+78+79). Senior Richard Schneider carded a 238 and tied for 92nd, and freshman Jonah Buss rounded out the Jays' scoring with a 243 (80+86+77), tying for 100th.
Creighton concluded its fall schedule on Tuesday and returns to the links in the spring of 2015.
