
Men's Golf Opens Spring in 14th Place

BLUFFTON, S.C. -- The Creighton men's golf team finished 14th at the Colleton River Collegiate on Tuesday with a three-round 953 (311+320+322) at the Colleton River Plantation Club in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Tennessee earned the team championship with an 872 (286+289+297). Miami University (293+290+297=880) and Michigan State (290+295+298=883) rounded out the top three in the 14-team field on the par-72 course that totaled 7,066 yards.
Michigan State's Sam Weatherhead (71+72+71=214) and Boston College's John Jackopsic (73+68+73=214) tied for the top individual spot at 2-under par. Nick Pandelena from Boston College finished third with a 217 (73+72+72), one stroke ahead of a three-way tie for fourth.
Senior Johnny Spellerberg led the Jays with a 236 (76+81+79) and tied for 61st overall.
Freshman Jonah Buss tied for 63rd and totaled a two-day 237 (79+82+76) while junior Tommy Anderson carded a 239 (77+77+85) for a 69th place tie.
Sophomores Andrew Holloway and Kade Brown rounded out the scoring for the Bluejays. Holloway finished in a tie for 78th with a 243 (79+82+82) and Brown shot a 247 (80+80+87) and placed 81st.
Creighton returns to the links March 16 and 17 at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Primm, Nevada.
