About Providence
Scouting Providence (10-13, 1-10 BIG EAST)
The Friars got off to a very promising start to the season going 9-1 over their first 10 games, but Providence have hit hard times with losses in 13 of their last 14 games. Scouting Creighton (14-8, 6-5 BIG EAST)
Finally back to full strength with every player healthy, the Bluejays look to finish the second half of conference play just as the Bluejays started conference play. After starting BIG EAST play 4-1 the injury bug slowed the Bluejays down going 2-4 over it last six games, but an impressive 20-point second half comeback win over #11 DePaul and the return of Jaylyn Agnew will have the Bluejays in a good position for a strong finish.
The Bluejays returned its leading scorer Agnew to the court averaging 18.9 PPG after missing four game due to injury. Despite Agnew being out the Bluejays got a jolt from senior Olivia Elger with a career-high 28 points in the win over #11 DePaul, while junior Temi Carda (13.2 PPG) has continued to elevate her level of play.
Elger's 28 points in the win at #11 DePaul assisted her in earning a spot on this weeks BIG EAST Honor Roll, while Carda dropped 20 points playing all
40 minutes against Marquette on Feb. 2.
Keys To the Game
Bad Medicine
Fresh off a comeback win over #11 DePaul (Jan. 31) that saw the Bluejays trail by 20 at halftime, the Bluejays took a bit of their own medicine at Marquette on Sunday, Feb. 2. Creighton delivered a dominant performance in the opening half in Milwaukee, holding a 32-19 edge at the half. The Golden Eagles, however, rallied for a 52-50 win with a last second shot.
Making the Most of The Players Available
Opening the 2019-20 season with just 11 healthy players (senior Morgan Turner officially retired) before the season, it took under the 22nd game of 2019-20 for Creighton to have an entire 11 available to head coach Jim Flanery. Over the course of the year six different Bluejays missed time due to injuries.

Keys To the Game
- Rebounding/Second Chance Opportunities: Providence will certainly want to pound the ball inside to its strength. Creighton, meanwhile, must find ways to make center Mary Baskerville work for each basket and make her less comfortable. In the first meeting this season (in Omaha), there Bluejays were out rebounded 37-29 with the Friars grabbing 13 offensive rebounds, but Creighton limited the Friars to just nine second chance points and 22 points in the paint.
- Distribution/Ball Handling: In the first meeting Creighton dished out a season-high 22 assists while only committing seven turnovers. The Bluejays rank fifth nationally in turnovers per game at 11.6 and when taking care of the ball have had great success.
- Taking advantage of the Practice Time: In the Midwest trip to Chicago (#11 DePaul) and Milwaukee (Marquette), the Bluejays saw the return of sophomore Rachael Saunders (at DePaul) as well as senior Jaylyn Agnew and sophomore Payton Brotzki (at Marquette). With a week of practice, can the Bluejays look more re-integrate the three. For Providence, can the Friars use the single-game week to regain the form that led to a 9-1 start.
