Round Tripper X3
In the Bluejays 10-5 lost against Villanova on April 16, the Bluejays hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to start the second inning.Â
Junior Sam Alm led off the bottom half of the second with a home run to right field before sophomore Emma Rosonke took the very next pitch deep over the right centerfield wall to give the Bluejays a 3-1 lead. Senior Shayna Dahlen then stepped up to the plate and hit a deep fly ball down the left field line that bounced off the Wildcat's left fielders' glove for the Bluejays third straight home run.Â
It was the third time since joining the BIG EAST that the Bluejays have hit back-to-back-to-back home runs and is the first time since March 23, 2019, when Jayci Foster, Mileah McKelvy and Kiara Mills hit three straight home runs in the top of the sixth inning against Georgetown.
Four Bags The Non-Traditional Way
In the series opener against Villanova, junior Kiara Mills hit a home run the non-traditional way by rounding the bases for an inside the park home run.
The California native launched a high fly ball to center field, which Villanova's centerfielder lost in the sun and was unable to make the catch. Mills did not break stride coming all the way around for the inside the park home run.
It was the Bluejays first inside the park home runs since former Bluejay Ashley Cantu hit one on March 27, 2019, against South Dakota. That season, Cantu hit two inside the park home runs to lead the Bluejays.Â
Wilson Nabs Spot on BE Weekly Honor Roll
Junior Kailey Wilson earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 11 after her dominant at the plate, finishing the three-game series against UConn with a 1.714 Slugging percentage, a .900 on-base percentage and a .857 batting average (6-of-7).Â
The Colorado native closed the weekend with three doubles and a home run while collecting two RBI and scoring two runs. In addition to her six hits, Wilson collected a trio of walks and was hit by a pitch to extend her on-base streak to 19 straight games. Â
In April 8th 5-4 setback, Wilson went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run while also drawing a pair of walks. She continued to stay hot at the plate on Saturday, April 9, going a perfect 3-for-3 with another double and walk, while also driving in a run. Wilson wrapped up the weekend with her third double of the series before scoring on a sac fly. She was also hit by a pitch, which allowed her to reach base in 10 of her 11 plate appearances.
Wilson has started all 39 games as the designated player for the Bluejays this season and is currently leading the team with a .413 batting average, including a BIG EAST best .491 average during BIG EAST play.Â
Wilson leads the conference with a .588 on-base percentage while also ranking second with a .855 slugging percentage as the junior has hit eight doubles, four home runs and has drawn 11 walks during conference action.
Wilson's Dominance In BIG EAST Play
Junior Kailey Wilson has been a force at the plate for the Bluejays during BIG EAST play. Wilson currently leads the BIG EAST in batting average (.491) and on-base percentage (.588), while ranking second in slugging percentage (.855).
Wilson went 6-of-7 (.857 batting average) with three walks and a hit by pitch over three games at UConn (April 8-10). Wilson continued her hot streak at the plate by going 4-for-8 with two RBI on two doubles and a home run against Villanova the following week.
The junior has already racked up 27 hits, which is tied for the lead in the BIG EAST, with eight doubles (second in BE), four home runs (eighth in BE) and 11 walks.Â
This comes as no surprise as the Colorado native dominated the BIG EAST last season. The junior was named a Unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection after leading the Bluejays and ranked second in the BIG EAST with a .432 batting average during league games, launching four home runs against BIG EAST pitching.Â
Wilson drove in 15 runs and posted a .773 slugging percentage while also walking nine times and ranked third in the league with a .537 on-base percentage. Additionally, Wilson had a team-best eight hits and seven RBIs with two outs during conference contests.Â
Wilson's On-Base Streak Ends At 19
Junior Kailey Wilson reached base in 19 straight games between March 4 and April 14, which was Creighton's longest streak this season and the longest since Ashley Cantu reached base in 21 straight games in 2019.
Wilson logged the sixth longest on-base streak since 2010, as five different Bluejays have reached base in 20 or more straight games since 2010. Amy Baker reached base safely in 37 consecutive games back in 2013. Below is the list of Bluejays to reach base in 20 or more games since 2010.

Ashley Cantu   21 (2019)

Playing At Home In February
Creighton was originally scheduled to open play at home on March 11 against Georgetown, but due to inclement weather in Texas the Bluejays had to adjust their plans.
Those plans and above average temperatures in Omaha, brought South Dakota State to the CU Sports Complex for a rare February home contest for the Bluejays.
It was just the fourth time in Creighton softball history that the Bluejays played a home game in February.Â
