Women's Basketball falls to 3-3 in BIG EAST play
Omaha, Neb. -- Morgan Maly had career-highs with 30 points and five assists and the No. 25 Creighton women's basketball team made a season-high 16 three-pointers, but it wasn't enough in a 79-75 loss to visiting Providence on Wednesday, Jan. 4, inside D.J. Sokol Arena.
Creighton (9-5, 3-3 BIG EAST) was unable to duplicate their fourth quarter magic from Saturday's win at DePaul, never getting closer than three points in the final frame. Providence improved to 10-6 overall while winning for the first time in five BIG EAST contests.

Molly Mogensen gave Creighton a 24-15 lead after the first quarter, beating the buzzer to drain CU's sixth triple of the first 10 minutes. CU's first four hoops came from behind the arc, including a rare four-point play by Rachael Saunders, and the Jays would lead by as much as 18-8 in the opening stanza.
Creighton's advantage got as high as 37-25 in the second quarter before the visiting Friars embarked on an 8-0 run to pull within four. But CU's 10th trifecta of the game, and second by Jensen, ended that surge. The Bluejays would take a 46-39 lead into the halftime break, sparked by 13 points, four rebounds and four assists by Maly and five assists without a turnover by Mogensen.
