Scouting Creighton (8-5-2, 5-3-1 BE)
Creighton is 8-5-2 this fall and have already clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the third time in program history with a 5-3-1 mark in league play.
Having won five of their last seven contests, Creighton enters Thursday's match at St. John's as arguably the hottest team in the BIG EAST.
After starting slow in conference play, dropping their first two matches to Georgetown (1-0) and Villanova (2-0), the Bluejays have increased their offensive production over the last few weeks, while posting wins in five of their last seven matches over Marquette (1-0), UConn (2-1), Providence (1-0), DePaul (3-1) and Seton Hall (2-1).
Offensively, Creighton has five different players who have found the back of the net at least twice this season, led by senior forward Ariana Mondiri. The Evry, France native paces the Bluejays with 11 points on five goals and an assist, including three game-winners, while senior Azumi Manriki follows closely behind with four goals.
Senior Stella Downing has added three goals and an assist of her own, while sophomore Anja Jestrovic and freshman Anna Bragg, the reigning BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, have each added a pair of goals. Senior Maddie Radke currently leads the team with a team-high three assists this season.
As a team, the Bluejays rank fifth in the BIG EAST in goals (21), sixth in points (58), sixth in goals allowed (18), seventh in assists (16) and seventh in saves (56).
Creighton is anchored in net by senior goalkeeper, Alyssa Zalac. Zalac has been busy in between the post this season, recording 53 saves while logging a combined 1350 minutes in 15 starts in goal. Zalac's 53 saves are the fifth-most in the BIG EAST this season, while her 1.20 goals against average is eighth best in league.
Head coach Jimmy Walker is in his first season at the helm of the Bluejays and owns a 184-100-28 career record.
Scouting St. John's (5-7-5, 0-6-3 BE)
St. John's enters Thursday's Halloween match with the Bluejays sporting a 5-7-5 overall record and an 0-6-3 mark in league play.
The Red Storm started the season strong, posting a 5-1-2 record in non-conference matches, but have struggled in league play, as they are still in search for their first BIG EAST victory of the season. Since a 2-1 win over Penn on Sept. 15, St. John's has gone 0-6-3 and has been outscored, 21-8.
St. John's has been much better in home contests, owning a 4-2-3 record in Queens, N.Y., but have struggled on the road, posting a 1-5-2 record in road matches.
Directing St. John's front line are seniors Jailene DeJesus and Jordyn Levy. DeJesus and Levy have each notched six goals, ranking tied-eighth in the BIG EAST, while DeJesus has dished out three assists to combine for 15 points. In addition, seven other members of the Red Storm have contributed at least one goal this season, with Athina Sofroniou owning a team-high tying three assists.
Offensively, St. John's ranks fifth in total shots (213), fifth in total points (60), fifth in assists (20) and sixth in total goals (20) in the BIG EAST.
Between the posts, goalkeeping duties have been split between junior Kayla Bower and senior Malene Nielsen. Bower has started nine matches for the Red Storm, recording 510 minutes in goal while grabbing 24 saves in route to a 2-2-1 mark. Nielsen, meanwhile, has seen action in 17 matches this season, logging 1,015 minutes. She has collected 59 saves, a mark that ranks fourth among BIG EAST goalkeepers this season.
St. John's was picked sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' poll this season as head coach Ian Stone is in his 31st season with the Red Storm.
Series History Against The Red Storm
Creighton and St. John's have met 11 times previously, with the first meeting dating back to 1991. The Bluejays trail the all-time series 2-6-3 and have lost four out of the last six meetings with the only results being a pair of 1-1 draws in 2019 and 2022.
Creighton's last win in the series came back on Oct. 9, 2016, inside Morrison Stadium as Kaira Houser and Lauren Sullivan delivered goals for the Bluejays.
Last season, St. John's Angelina Scoma delivered the game-winning goal and her first goal of her career with 2:03 remaining to secure a 3-2 win over the Bluejays. Senior Abigail Santana and junior Andrine Westlie each netted goals for the Bluejays in the setback.
A BIG EAST First
Locked into the No. 3 or No. 4 seed for the BIG EAST Tournament, Creighton will host the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament at Morrison Stadium for the FIRST TIME in program history.
It will be the 12th time in school history and the first since 2012 that the Bluejays will host a conference tournament match at home, although the first 11 times came while the Jays were members of the Missouri Valley Conference.
Below are all the scenarios that can determine Creighton's seeding for the 2024 BIG EAST Tournament.

- With a loss and a Butler tie, the tiebreaker with go to be the most points vs. all the teams in the field, which will be determined following Thursday's action.
Its Almost Tournament Time
For just the third time since joining the BIG EAST in 2013 and for the 19th time in program history, Creighton has clinched a spot in the conference tournament.
Creighton will enter this Sunday's first round of the BIG EAST Tournament as the No. 3 or No. 4 seed, depending on the Bluejays result on Thursday night at St. John's.
The top two seeds (Georgetown and Xavier) will get an opening round bye in the BIG EAST Tournament, while seeds three through six will play in the opening round at Creighton and Butler.
Anna Bragg Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Freshman Anna Bragg earned some well-deserved recognition on Monday, Oct. 28 as the Bluejay forward was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.
Bragg guided the Bluejays to a 1-0-1 record this past week, notching two points on a pair assists, including a helper on the game-winning goal in the Bluejays' 2-1 win at Seton Hall on Thursday, Oct. 24. The talented rookie then connected with sophomore Mallory Connealy in the 45th minute on Sunday against Butler after sparking a counterattack by stealing a ball from a Bulldog attacker in the midfield and sending a pass over the top to Connealy, who hammer home her first goal of the season to give Creighton the lead at the break, 1-0.
With assists in each of the Bluejays two contests this past week, Bragg becomes the second Bluejay freshman in the past two years to score at least one point in three consecutive matches. Overall, the Omaha native ranks fourth on the team with six points, with two goals and two assists all coming during BIG EAST play.

Earning the first assist of her collegiate career, Zalac became the first Bluejay goalkeeper to record an assist since Katie Jo Swanson notched a similar style helper in a win over CSU Bakersfield on Oct. 16, 2010.
Walking into Conference Success
Head coach Jimmy Walker has certainly enjoyed more than his fair share of success in conference play throughout his career. In his 17th season as a head coach, Walker owns a 113-36-14 overall record in conference play, including a 5-3-1 record in the BIG EAST this fall.
Walker's five wins in BIG EAST play this year are the most wins in conference play by a first-year head coach at Creighton in program history and are tied for the second-most in a single conference season in program history.

Bringing the Physicality
Over the course of the last few years there is one portion of the game that Creighton is not shy to bring, and that is the physicality.
Through 15 matches this season, Creighton has racked up 230 fouls and a total of 27 yellow cards. The Bluejays currently lead the country in fouls per game with 15.33 and is tied for 11th nationally in yellow cards with 26.

Scoring Two Works Almost Everytime
It would stand to reason that scoring goals increases a team's chances of winning. For the Bluejays, that is most certainly the case.
Since the program began in 1989, Creighton owns a 277-23-13 all-time record when scoring two or more goals in a match, including a 5-1-1 record this season. On the flip side, the Bluejays are 47-251-52 when being held to fewer than two goals.
Additionally, the Bluejays are 70-8-4 when scoring two or more goals, but 15-84-24 when netting fewer than two goals since joining the BIG EAST in 2013.
Battled Tested Bluejays
Ranked as one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country, Creighton has had its work cut out for them this season as they have faced a grueling slate.
CU has battled three Power 5 conference opponents in the non-conference this season, while also playing perennial powers in then No. 19 Saint Louis and Georgetown as well as previously unbeaten Kansas City. Combined, Creighton's opponents are 113-80-56 against opponents that are not Creighton this season.

Azumi on the Attack
Senior Azumi Manriki has been nothing short of fantastic this season. The Hiroshima, Japan native ranks second on the team with four goals this season, after scoring for the first time on Sunday, Oct. 27 against Butler since scoring in each of the Jays first three matches.
Manriki became the first Bluejay since Toch Ihemelu in 2006 to score in each of the first three matches of a season. However, the senior midfielder has been scoreless in each of the last four matches.
In Manriki's three seasons with the Bluejays, she has scored seven goals, including a pair of game-winners against Villanova (10/9/22) and Iowa State (8/18/24).
This season she leads the team in shots (28) and ranks second on the team in points (8) and goals (4), while sitting third in shots on goal (9).
