Scouting Creighton (3-1-2)
The Bluejays responded to their first loss of the season (3-1 to #3 Denver on Sept. 6) with the most complete performance of the season in a 1-0 win over (RV) Grand Canyon on Sept. 9.
Sophomore Miguel Arilla leads Creighton with seven points on two goals and three assists. Two other Bluejays sit a close second as freshman Gavrilo Civric and senior Jackson Castro have six points. Civric holds a team lead three goals, while Castro has two goals and two assists. A total of 11 players have recorded at least one point this season.
In net the Bluejays have gone with Blake Gillingham throughout the season, playing all 540 minutes.
The junior has made 15 saves, allowing nine goals thus far for a 1.50 GAA. He has two shutouts, including the 1-0 win at (RV) Grand Canyon. Â
Scouting Tulsa (1-3-1)
Tulsa is 0-2-0 on the road this season. In both road contests of the season Tulsa has been held scoreless, falling at UNLV (2-0 on August 22) and at Missouri State (1-0 on September 6). Conversely in its three home matches, Tulsa has six combined goals.

Shimonishi's First Goal Comes in Unconventional Manner
An unconventional goal proved to be the game winner as junior Ryusei Shimonishi headed in his first goal of the season in the 20th minute (19:20). Shimonishi's volley was blocked by Grand Canyon goalkeeper Leon Schmidt, but he was two feet inside the goal box. The deep position allowed the entire ball to cross the goal line and put the Bluejays ahead. Senior Jackson Castro and sophomore Miguel Arilla earned assists on the sequence by forcing the Lopes defense to pull toward them and create an opening for Shimonishi.
