Getting to Know Lew Rice
- Rice appeared in 49 games for the Buccaneers, starting 38 and recording 142 at-bats.
- Lew earned a spot on the 2025 Big South All-Tournament Team, going 9-for-20 (.450) with 11 RBI. He delivered eight RBI in an 18-8 win over High Point on May 23 to reach the Big South Championship.Â
- He closed the season with a .324 average, delivering 46 hits, scored 39 runs and accounted for seven doubles, five triples and six home runs.
- Another strong performance from Rice saw him go 4-for-6 with four runs scored in a 19-4 win.
2022-24 (Whittier College)
- In 2024, the outfielder claimed First Team All-SCIAC and SCIAC Conference Battling Title (.420) honors.Â
- The 2023 season saw Lew collect three accolades in his first true season with the Buccaneers. The South Carolina native won 2023 First TeamÂ
- All-SCIAC (South Carolina Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), SCIAC Newcomer of the Year and Second Team All-Region honors.
- Rice did not play in 2022, opting to take a gap year from both baseball and school to foster his interests in media, cinematography and creativeÂ
- services.
- Whittier College did not play baseball during the 2021 season and Rice also didn’t play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
2016-20 (IMG Academy)
- Rice lettered in baseball four times while playing for the Ascenders.
- IMG Academy won the High School State Championship during Rice’s time there.
- Lew was a multi-sport athlete, playing football and basketball in addition to being on the baseball field.
